Urinary or kidney stones are kind of solid hard crystals made of minerals, salts and proteins are mostly found in the urine. These solid crystals are generally deposited in the urinary tract or in kidneys. When the urine gets concentrated and causes these minerals to form and become crystalized. When these crystals pass out with urine, it gets quite painful for the patient. However, if these stones are properly and timely treated, they can’t cause any permanent harm. Kidney stones can cause diarrhea, obesity and other medical conditions. They can even affect your entire urinary tract from kidneys to the bladder.
While looking carefully at the condition of the patient, a meeting for consultation with the expert Urologist is scheduled at Wellcare Medical Center Urology Department. While considering your condition, a lot of water intake and pain medication could be suggested to let the urinary stones to pass. If the stones are tightly stuck in the urinary tract, a surgery may be required. Further treatments may include:
- You may be given an Extracorporeal Shock Wave lithotripsy (ESWL) to remove these stones.
- Parathyroid gland surgery is conducted to remove its growth which stops the formation of urinary or kidney stones.
- Ureteroscopy procedure could be prescribed to treat stones in ureter or kidney.
- Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy surgery is used to get rid of kidney stones.
